Golden Rules to Owning Snakes....
~*~ Snake Home ~*~Hummel Home~*~
- WASH YOUR HANDS WASH YOUR HANDS!! One of
the biggest mistakes in keeping snakes is not washing hands after handling other snakes OR
(most important) the snake food. If you smell like a rat expect to get tagged! So always wash
your hands!!
- Don't wait a couple of days or weeks to clean the
substrate after the snake has "pooped" or whatever. Think about it...would
you want to live around that??? Snakes DO NOT smell...but there poop sure
does!! =0)
- Yes....snakes need water...leave
water in their cage to drink or for them to soak in.
- Feed frozen....please feed your
snake frozen...your valued pet could get hurt from those nasty mice/rat claws or teeth.
~ Oh...and make sure your snake gets enough to eat. It
is probably not a good idea for that 5 foot Red Tail Boa to be eating a pinkie rat
every couple of weeks....kind of small don't ya think? And you wonder why he acts so
agressive...maybe he is HUNGRY!!! =0)
- Handle your snake!! Okay...if
the only time you do anything with your snake is to feed it...well don't expect your snake
to be a very nice individual. Handle them. =0)
- ALL snakes will bite...fact of
life/nature....like it or not!!
- Do your homework before you buy
that cute 24 inch snake at the local petstore. It could grow to be 6 foot or
bigger....can you handle that?
- Please...educate others.
Everyone normally forms their own opinions about snakes...but hey...they really are cool
pets!!
And along with that....yes they are cool...so please be responsible...your
pet did not choose you...you chose them....take care of them.
